What does the period(row) on the periodic table tell you about elements in that row? 1/10

What does the period(row) on the periodic table tell you about elements in that row?
The period row on the periodic table tells me that the elements on that row are all different
charges or negatives.
Because, they each element doesnt do the same thing when it combines with another element.
like...

1. one carbon and one oxygen- Carbon monoxide

2. one carbon and two oxygen- Carbon dioxide

3. one carbon and four chlorine- Carbon Tetrachloride
